Texas Workforce of the Golden Crescent

Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

SCSEP is available to adults 55 and over that are in a lower income level. Through this program staff will match interests and skills with a community service training assignment close to where the individual lives. The training assignment will be approximately 20 hours a week and will pay minimum wage during training. As the individual's experience grows Texas Workforce will help find full-time or part-time employment.

Local Employment

Employment can be found in various service industries such as wait staff, sales clerk, and housekeeping for both part-time and full-time basis. Medical positions can be found available with the local hospital and doctors' offices and include: paramedic, switchboard operator, dietary aide, personal care, doctors and nurses. Trade positions are needed in areas such as auto mechanics, air-conditioning, drivers, welders, construction, and plumbers. Positions can be found with the school district for social workers, curriculum specialist, secretaries, classroom aides, teachers, substitute teachers, and school management.
