Lifeline is an easy-to-use personal response and support service that summons help any time of the day or night. Using a Personal Help Button, worn on a wristband or pendant links, Personal Help Buttons link patients to 24 hour security and emergency medical assistance seven days a week. When the button is pressed a trained Personal Response Associate will contact a neighbor, loved one, or emergency services based on specific needs and will follow up to confirm that help has arrived.

Health Fair/Wellness Expo

Each year the hospital sponsors a health fair for all the communities it serves. At the fair, people enjoy visiting a wide selection of booths relating to health, safety, and wellness. Free health tests and screenings are offered and a number of fun activities are available for the entire family.

Belle Terry Elder Women’s Center - Mammography & Bone Density

The Belle Terry Elder Women’s Center located in the Medical Plaza of the Cuero Community Hospital and is certified by the Texas Department of Health and FDA. The center is also accredited by the American College of Radiology. The center features the latest digital imaging technology for Mammography and employs state of the art DEXA bone densitometry unit to access the risk of a fracture of the hip and spine due to osteoporosis.

Radiology Services

The comprehensive radiology department is under the direction of a group of Board Certified Radiologists and experienced Radiology Technologists. The department is equipped to perform procedures from routine X-Rays to sophisticated diagnostic imaging procedures. Using the latest digital technology, studies are completed quickly insuring prompt personal attention. With the digital CT and fluoroscopy procedure rooms, the radiology department is always available, 24 hours every day of the year.

Magnetic Response Imaging (MRI)

An MRI is a noninvasive diagnostic procedure using an MR scanner to obtain detailed sectional images of the internal structure of the body. This type of imaging test uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create pictures of the body without using radiation. Cuero Community Hospital uses a High-Field True Open MRI. This open MRI is open concept, unlike traditional cylindrical MRIs. We can accommodate patients weighing up to 550 pounds.

Cuero Community Hospital was the first in our region to begin using the Philips High-Field True Open MRI with Ambient Experience. The Ambient Experience is a unique feature that further enables patients of all ages to relax during the MRI. Patients select varied music, lighting, and image options to hear and see during their MRI procedure.

Nuclear Medicine

The Nuclear Medicine Department utilizes single head and dual head gamma cameras that offer high quality diagnostic imaging in much less time than previous procedures.

Through the use of advanced instrumentation and highly skilled personnel, rapid access is provided to critical information utilized by physicians for the accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment of patients. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Medical Technologists, Medical Technicians, and Phlebotomists work under the direction of a Board Certified Pathologist to provide diagnostic studies for patients on an inpatient as well as an outpatient basis. The lab also provides services to local nursing home patients under the direction of their physician.

A specially trained Pharmacist provides services on an inpatient and outpatient basis and is licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. CCH maintains a large inventory of medications to fill orders requested from a physician while a patient is hospitalized.

CCH offers extensive orthopedic services beginning with the patient's very first visit. By keeping abreast of all the latest in orthopedic medicine, CCH is able to employ noninvasive treatment for as long as possible.

Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy

The Rehabilitation Department is staffed with licensed Physical Therapists, Therapy Assistants, and Occupational Therapists that provide a continuum of care for inpatient, home health, and outpatient rehabilitation. CCH also specializes in many muscular-skeletal disorders including orthopedic, neurological, and sports medicine injures. The goal is to help each patient achieve the highest quality of functional activity possible following surgery or injury.

Cuero Home Health

Cuero Home Health has been providing home care to the citizens of DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Lavaca, Karnes and Victoria counties since 1984. Home Healthcare many times eliminates the need to be hospitalized or placed in a nursing home.

Services may be provided to clients in their own home, relative’s home, foster home, or retirement home. To provide the most comprehensive and flexible care to patients, Cuero Home Health maintains two Texas Home and Community Support Services licenses. Licensed and certified services provide home care to qualifying Medicare and Medicaid clients. Under the Medicare Certified License, skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and home health aide service is provided to clients with Medicare and Medicaid coverage when services are medically necessary, ordered by a physician and the patient is homebound.

Under a separate license, skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and home health aide services are provided to clients that have insurance, worker’s compensation, or would like to pay privately for skilled services.

Cuero Home Health also offers personal assistance services, primary home care and community based alternatives to eligible Medicaid clients under this same license. Referrals for all services may be made by physicians, nurses, families, or clients themselves. Home car
