CCH is a licensed and accredited acute care general hospital with 49 available hospital beds. LifelineLifeline is an easy-to-use personal response and support service that summons help any time of the day or night. Using a Personal Help Button, worn on a wristband or pendant links, Personal Help Buttons link patients to 24 hour security and emergency medical assistance seven days a week. When the button is pressed a trained Personal Response Associate will contact a neighbor, loved one, or emergency services based on specific needs and will follow up to confirm that help has arrived. Health Fair/Wellness ExpoEach year the hospital sponsors a health fair for all the communities it serves. At the fair, people enjoy visiting a wide selection of booths relating to health, safety, and wellness. Free health tests and screenings are offered and a number of fun activities are available for the entire family. Belle Terry Elder Women’s Center - Mammography & Bone DensityThe Belle Terry Elder Women’s Center located in the Medical Plaza of the Cuero Community Hospital and is certified by the Texas Department of Health and FDA. The center is also accredited by the American College of Radiology. The center features the latest digital imaging technology for Mammography and employs state of the art DEXA bone densitometry unit to access the risk of a fracture of the hip and spine due to osteoporosis. Radiology ServicesThe comprehensive radiology department is under the direction of a group of Board Certified Radiologists and experienced Radiology Technologists. The department is equipped to perform procedures from routine X-Rays to sophisticated diagnostic imaging procedures. Using the latest digital technology, studies are completed quickly insuring prompt personal attention. With the digital CT and fluoroscopy procedure rooms, the radiology department is always available, 24 hours every day of the year. Magnetic Response Imaging (MRI)An MRI is a noninvasive diagnostic procedure using an MR scanner to obtain detailed sectional images of the internal structure of the body. This type of imaging test uses powerful magnets and radio waves to create pictures of the body without using radiation. Cuero Community Hospital uses a High-Field True Open MRI. This open MRI is open concept, unlike traditional cylindrical MRIs. We can accommodate patients weighing up to 550 pounds. Cuero Community Hospital was the first in our region to begin using the Philips High-Field True Open MRI with Ambient Experience. The Ambient Experience is a unique feature that further enables patients of all ages to relax during the MRI. Patients select varied music, lighting, and image options to hear and see during their MRI procedure. Nuclear MedicineThe Nuclear Medicine Department utilizes single head and dual head gamma cameras that offer high quality diagnostic imaging in much less time than previous procedures. LaboratoryThrough the use of advanced instrumentation and highly skilled personnel, rapid access is provided to critical information utilized by physicians for the accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment of patients. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, Medical Technologists, Medical Technicians, and Phlebotomists work under the direction of a Board Certified Pathologist to provide diagnostic studies for patients on an inpatient as well as an outpatient basis. The lab also provides services to local nursing home patients under the direction of their physician. PharmacyA specially trained Pharmacist provides services on an inpatient and outpatient basis and is licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. CCH maintains a large inventory of medications to fill orders requested from a physician while a patient is hospitalized. OrthopedicsCCH offers extensive orthopedic services beginning with the patient's very first visit. By keeping abreast of all the latest in orthopedic medicine, CCH is able to employ noninvasive treatment for as long as possible. Rehabilitation and Physical TherapyThe Rehabilitation Department is staffed with licensed Physical Therapists, Therapy Assistants, and Occupational Therapists that provide a continuum of care for inpatient, home health, and outpatient rehabilitation. The staff works closely with physicians to develop a program tailored to the individual needs of the patient. Therapeutic services include aquatic therapy, individualized exercise programs, and multiple variations of modality treatments. CCH also specializes in many muscular-skeletal disorders including orthopedic, neurological, and sports medicine injures. The goal is to help each patient achieve the highest quality of functional activity possible following surgery or injury. Cardiopulmonary/Respiratory CareThe Cardiopulmonary/Respiratory Care Service provides inpatient, outpatient, and emergency diagnostic testing and treatment. Services are offered based on physician orders for heart, lung, brain, and other disorders. Services include: management of life support systems (ventilators/respirators), pulmonary function testing. arterial blood gas testing, oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication therapy, chest drainage and percussion therapy, sleep diagnostic studies and treatment of sleep disorders, EKG (electro cardiology — heart rhythm testing), cardiac stress testing, EEG (electroencephalography-brain wave testing), breath alcohol testing for DOT-required testing, community and patient education programs. Sleep Study LabUsing the latest technologies, the Sleep Study Lab at CCH identifies, evaluates and treats a large variety of sleep related problems such as chronic insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea, irregular sleep patterns, narcolepsy, and oxygenation problems. SurgeryThe surgical and endoscopy suites are designed and equipped to assist the highly skilled surgeons in the following specialties: General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics, Podiatry, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology, Peripheral Vascular and other common surgical specialties. Day SurgeryCCH's day surgery unit offers diagnostic and surgical services combined with the highest-level of care, experience, and support possible. A private and comfortable waiting area is close by for convenience. In consideration of time, pre-admission testing is performed prior to the day of surgery to facilitate admission and treatment. Surgeries that can be performed in the day surgery unit include: hernia repair, gallbladder, breast biopsy, skin lesion, colonoscopy, endoscopy, arthroscopy, cataract removal, laparoscopy, and a variety of others. Intensive Care/Post Anesthesia Care UnitThis unit is equipped for both medical and surgical patients requiring special skilled medical procedures and nursing care. In the unit, patients are monitored by sophisticated, electronic equipment making it possible for the healthcare team to respond instantly to the slightest change in the patient's condition. Immediate life-sustaining action can be taken in response to medical emergencies through staff experience, life support equipment, and the latest medications. Specially trained nurses in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) monitor patients under the effects of anesthesia in preparation for their return to other hospital settings or discharge. Outpatient ServicesCuero Community Hospital Outpatient Department offers diagnostic and surgical services in a convenient, cost-saving manner. The unit provides the same full range of the high-tech service and care as inpatient programs. Outpatient services include CAT Scan, lab tests, x-rays, physical therapy, nuclear scans, EKGs, EEGs, MRI’s, mammograms, cardiac stress tests, sleep studies, ultrasounds, vascular studies, and many other services. Cuero Home HealthCuero Home Health has been providing home care to the citizens of DeWitt, Goliad, Gonzales, Lavaca, Karnes and Victoria counties since 1984. Home Healthcare many times eliminates the need to be hospitalized or placed in a nursing home. Services may be provided to clients in their own home, relative’s home, foster home, or retirement home. To provide the most comprehensive and flexible care to patients, Cuero Home Health maintains two Texas Home and Community Support Services licenses. Licensed and certified services provide home care to qualifying Medicare and Medicaid clients. Under the Medicare Certified License, skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and home health aide service is provided to clients with Medicare and Medicaid coverage when services are medically necessary, ordered by a physician and the patient is homebound. Under a separate license, skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and home health aide services are provided to clients that have insurance, worker’s compensation, or would like to pay privately for skilled services. Cuero Home Health also offers personal assistance services, primary home care and community based alternatives to eligible Medicaid clients under this same license. Referrals for all services may be made by physicians, nurses, families, or clients themselves. Home car Heritage Program for Senior AdultsThe Heritage Program for Senior Adults is an outpatient psychiatric program that provides individualized treatment to older adults who suffer from psychiatric, emotional, or behavioral disorders, including depression, anxiety, frequent crying, sleep disturbances, and changes in eating habits. The program offers participants the opportunity to improve their quality of life by reducing distress and increasing independent functioning. Hospital AuxiliaryThe Cuero Community Hospital Auxiliary was chartered over thirty years ago. This was before the formal opening of Cuero Community Hospital. The Hospital Auxiliary has strived throughout the years to promote and advance Volunteer Service to the hospital through a variety of activities and fundraising events. Anyone is welcome to join.
